Deanna Chow Trotter joined Church Without Walls as a young college grad and spent her most formative adult years as a part of this community. Twenty-plus years later, she's deeply grateful for how CWOW has been instrumental in shaping her faith; the ways she has been mentored, fed (both literally and spiritually), and experienced the transforming love and power of Jesus through this church. She is currently a member of a Life Group, the Prayer Ministry and Teaching teams, and a co-leader of the Racial Justice Leadership Team. Deanna thrives at the intersection of vision and implementation, and she looks forward to applying her knack for strategy and planning—along with her communications gifts—to her role as an Elder. In her free time, Deanna can be found in line for tasty local eats, admiring architectural design with her architect husband, cheering (loudly) for the Golden State Warriors, and waiting for the next Wordle!

Loretta Matty moved from Davis to Berkeley after graduation to attend Church Without Walls in 1998. Loretta is one of the longest serving members of "CWOWers with dogs" club - currently 2 Goldendoodles named Merry and Pippin - previously having Jack since 2006 until his death in 2019. She was a computer programmer in college up until 2022 when she stopped working to see what might be next. So far it has meant birding, golfing and hanging out with the dogs as well as being on the Prayer Ministry Team, Teaching Team and most recently serving on the Pastoral Search Committee.

Wes Reed has resided in Berkeley for the past 4 decades. He has enjoyed being a part of Church Without Walls along with his family since the early days. He works as the IT Director for Rubicon Programs, a social service nonprofit that provides job, housing and other support services in order to break cycles of poverty in the East Bay. He has held many different roles at CWOW over the years. He currently helps support CWOW’s financial management and is a part of the Racial Justice Leadership team. He enjoys cooking at home and exploring the great outdoors: hiking, backpacking, and cross country skiing.

Erin Schweng has been a member of Church Without Walls since it all began twenty-plus years ago. She grew up in Castro Valley, CA, and lived and worked as an educator in Berkeley Unified School District for over 22 years before moving back to Castro Valley in 2020.  She now works in the UC Berkeley School of Education. Over the years in CWOW, she has served as a small group/life group leader, prayer team member, and was Chair of the elder team that saw CWOW through our last transition to a permanent pastor from 2013-2015. She brings to this work a deep conviction that the leadership and conflict-resolution skills she gained from her work as a Principal at Berkeley High School will be valuable as CWOW finds its way through a challenging season. She lives with her housemate and fellow CWOW member Loretta Matty in Castro Valley, and spends a fair amount of time enjoying the company of two delightful goldendoodle pups, Merry and Pippin. She is also, definitely, the one you may notice is knitting through church service most weeks.

John Winkleman was raised in Sunnyvale, CA and attended Santa Clara University. During his college years, John recommitted himself to faith and served as a student leader within Campus Ministry and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. He moved to the East Bay in 1997 after joining a creative marketing agency in West Berkeley. John started attending Church Without Walls in 2000 out of a conviction toward greater commitment – to plant himself in one place and grow. During that first year, he was a regular scripture reader, joined CWOW’s tutoring ministry, and co-led a small group with Kim (Mullan, at the time). Little did he know where that call to commitment would lead! John and Kim married in 2002 and bought their home in West Berkeley in 2003. They have two sons who were baptized and raised in CWOW: Danny (21) attends Sacramento State University, and Jacob (18) is a senior at Berkeley High and will attend Parsons School of Design in New York. John has co-led a couple of men’s life groups at CWOW and has served as a Godly Play storyteller and assistant for many years. CWOW has had a profound impact on John and his family. He looks forward to continuing to serve our community in this season.

Timothy Zenor-Davis attended Church Without Walls (CWOW) as a non-believer, and shortly after he received Christ. He has been a follower for twenty-plus years. Although CWOW was Tim’s only church home as an adult, he was baptized Catholic as an infant and spent several years attending church with his family until he was seven years old. Tim is a Bay Area native, born in San Francisco and formed in Berkeley/El Cerrito/Richmond.  Very few people are fortunate enough to have their vocation align with the job they hold to pay the bills. However, Tim has been able to live true to his passion for social and racial justice by holding senior positions in nonprofit organizations that help bring reparation and positive change to people’s lives. Whether working with groups of diverse youth to help them find their unique voices through the arts or working with marginalized communities to bring access to resources through equity-based programs, he is committed to engaging in the necessary trouble that leads to justice. Tim has brought that calling to activism to CWOW’s racial healing ministry as a Racial Justice Leadership Team (RJLT) member. This group of like-minded brothers and sisters helps to lead CWOW in exploring, identifying, and redeeming racial relationships broken by systemic and structural racism within the church and in the world. Tim served two terms on CWOW’s Elder team and shares the duty of making weekly announcements at Sunday Celebration. Tim resides in West Berkeley with his wife of 24 years, Deborah (Children’s Ministry Director), daughter Hadassah (21), and son Isaiah (16).
